PEORIA, AZ — A man has died from his injuries after a shooting involving a Peoria Police Department officer late Monday night.
The shooting occurred near 91st and Peoria avenues around 10:30 p.m. Monday.

Police say the incident started when a man was acting suspiciously near a restaurant and officers attempted to make contact with him.
The man reportedly ran from officers to a gas station parking lot where he reportedly pulled out a handgun and pointed it at officers. An officer, who has been with Peoria PD for three years, fired at the man, striking him in the torso.
No officers were hurt in the shooting, according to the department, but the man suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to a hospital where he later died.
Police identified the individual involved as a 43-year-old man.
An investigation remains underway.
