PHOENIX — Phoenix police are investigating after a hit-and-run crash left a pedestrian dead near 39th Avenue and Van Buren Street.
At around 6:45 p.m. Saturday, officers responded to an injured person in the area. When they arrived they located a man who had died from injuries related to being hit by a vehicle.
Investigators say the driver involved did not stop and took off before officers arrived.
Police believe the unknown vehicle was driving east on Van Buren when they struck the man as he crossed the road. Preliminary information indicates the vehicle left the area immediately after hitting the man.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
